“Mother Fucker!!! Look at that SHIT!!!” is what I said this morning when I was greeted with two feet of snow. “Son of a BITCH!” is what I screamed when my snowblower wouldn’t start and I had to shovel by hand. “Hey asshole—where’s your article!!!” my e-mail said as the Dude kindly reminded me that once again my article was late. “Dammit” I said to myself and then got inspired to write about my nite out. On Saturday, November 22, I went to Bleachers in Liverpool and caught the band “Grind.” It’s a nice big place…a rock and roll sports bar (as if you could’t tell by the name!) For those of you who never heard of Grind, they are a five piece band that plays Modern Rock—Loud and FAST!!! Original material and music by groups such as Godsmack, Korn, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Limp Bizkit, 311, Disturbed, Staind, etc. A full show with great stage presence, big sound and light show—the works! So how were they? Well, the crowd seemed to really like the band but all I can remember is that the FUCKIN’ band kept swearing so FUCKIN’ much that I forgot to listen!!! As you can tell by my use of the foul language, I wasn’t offended by the choice of words coming from the stage, but enough is fuckin’ enough!!! I’m not singling out Grind. They are a good band but like so many other bands that attempt to be offensive by throwing in every fuckin’ vulgarity in every God Damn sentence, it really gets to sound fuckin’ ridiculous…Why do rap bands get a rap for the shit they say…like several other Modern rock bands I’ve seen lately--these motherfuckers were swearing just as bad!!! I don’t want to sound like a prude and suggest that words like “fuck shit piss etc etc etc” be banned. And I’m not advocating that the state of New York pass a no vulgarity law in bars, so that people would have to go outside to swear and curse—that would be fuckin’ stupid! I’m just saying’, that a little fuckin restraint wouldn’t be so fuckin bad! Because it ain’t about the shit you say, it’s the shit you play! Rock-n-fuckin-roll! |
